As some of you may know, I have recently embarked on another creative journey. I am proud to say that this passion of mine has become something much bigger and more rewarding than I could’ve hardly imagined. When I was younger, I took several art classes. Stacks of old magazines and newspapers turned into collages and other art projects. Elmers glue was nearly my best friend and rarely did I go to bed without sequins stuck to the outside of my elbow or bottom of my foot (maybe a slight exaggeration but I DO remember it happening more than once.) When I got a little bit older, I attended pottery classes at the “Womens Studio Workshop” or WSW. There, I learned the discipline of throwing clay on a wheel and I remember working hard to perfect what I produced; I was probably 11, 12 or 13 at the time. Although I wish that I could have stayed with it for longer, I was unfortunately unable to continue at WSW. Fast forward -several years- to this past summer/fall when I was living on the Vineyard, I took an open studio ceramics class and loved experiencing that feeling again. Even though it was a real struggle to commit my hands and arms to getting the feel for throwing on a wheel again, I tried my best. Upon moving to the city, I realized how important it was for me to own the fact that I loved working with my hands in that way and I sought out an outlet for JUST that. Thanks to many trips to Pearl Paint and quality time in the ceramics aisle, I dove into my jewelry making as a form of tangible creative expression which somehow -RAPIDLY- evolved into this earring (and soon to be more than just earring) business. I hope you all enjoy the photos and I promise to post more as the production increases.
